Crane

Crane Trucks

Are modified trucks which have a Crane attached to the chassis. A crane is a type of apparatus, generally equipped with a hook, chains, and sheaves, that can be used both to lift and lower materials and to move them horizontally. It is mainly used for lifting heavy objects and transporting them.

Items that can be loaded: Shipping Containers, Park Homes, Generators, Farm Equipment, Helicopters, Construction Equipment etc.

Lowbeds

Lowbed/Step deck

A semi-trailer with two drops in deck height: one right after the gooseneck and one right before the wheels. This allows the deck to be extremely low compared with other trailers. It offers the ability to carry legal loads up to 3.66m tall, which other trailers cannot. Lowbeds have between 3 and 4 axles and are used to haul abnormal loads or heavy equipment.

Items that can be loaded: 2 x 6m Containers/Offices, 12m Container/Office, Forklifts, Generators, Tractors, Generators, Abnormal Loads, Helicopters, Earth Moving Equipment (TLB’s, Excavators, Grader’s, etc)

Roll-back

Rollback

Also called a "flatbed" or a "sliding deck", flatbeds have a back deck that is fitted with a bed that can be hydraulically inclined and slid back to ground level, allowing the vehicle/forklift to be placed on it under its own power or pulled on by a winch.

Items that can be loaded: 6m Containers, 6m Offices, Forklifts, Vehicles, Generators, Trailers, Earth Moving Equipment, etc.

Rigging

Rigging

The process of manually moving equipment in and out of factories, warehouses or hard to reach places with other lifting equipment. Rigging systems commonly include shackles, master links, slings and trolley jacks.

Sideloader

Sideloader

A trailer that loads and offloads loaded Shipping Containers via a pair of hydraulic powered cranes mounted at each end of the trailers chassis. The cranes are designed to lift loaded containers from the ground in narrow or small areas with a max weight of 35 tons.

Items that can be loaded: 6/12m Containers

Park Homes

Also known as a Mobile home, is a prefabricated structure built on a permanent chassis. Used for Homes, Offices, Ablutions or temporary accommodation. Park Homes are often permanently or semi-permanently placed, however can be re-positioned. This is where we come in. E&M Plant and Transport specialises in the delivery, levelling and collection of Park Homes ranging in various sizes.

Important Information Regarding Park & Mobile Homes

How do I know if my site is ready?
  • The ground must be level.
  • The ground must be compact.
  • There must be no rocks, bricks, glass etc. in the surrounding area.
  • Our vehicles cannot drive onto water logged grass and mud. OUR TRUCKS WILL GET STUCK.
  • We cannot load/offload while it is raining or in poor conditions (strong winds, storms) or when visibility.
How do I know if my site is accessible?
  • The entrance must be at least 4m wide, for a 3m wide unit, and 4,5m wide for wider units.
  • There must be no overhanging branches.
  • There must be no overhanging wires lower than 4,7m above the ground.
  • The truck will reverse into position – is there sufficient space?
  • There must be no poles, bushes, trees, fences, walls, other vehicles or any obstruction.
  • Once the unit has been offloaded, the driver requires an unobstructed distance of 7m, plus the equivalent length of the unit, to be able to manoeuvre the vehicle from under the unit.
Important Information to be aware of.
  • The unit is manually loaded and offloaded.
  • THE CONTAINER/PARKHOME MUST BE EMPTY. Equipment and trucks are not designed to handle weight over 4 ton inclusive of the Parkhome.
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the unit is in the correct place and in the correct position, i.e. Doors facing the right way, before the unit is offloaded. Additional moves on site are charged for.
  • We do not use a crane, unless this has been arranged by you.
  • Units standing on a solid concrete plinth/slab exceeding 200mm cannot be loaded manually as the vehicle has to be able to reverse under the unit.
  • The jacking equipment requires clear space of at least 1m on all four corners of the unit.
  • The unit must be disconnected from all services i.e. Electricity, water and sewerage, BEFORE our vehicle arrives.
  • Air conditioners must be removed from their ducts.
  • Keys for the unit must be available in order to check that the unit is levelled correctly. (Doors and windows must open and close)
  • The unit must be empty, loose items inside the unit may cause damage to your unit.
  • The unit must be in a good, solid condition. Old or poorly maintained units may not withstand transportation.
  • If the unit is a double wide (two units joined together) it needs to be disassembled prior to loading. Double wide units need even more open space for loading then standard units.
  • Units being delivered across the border must have all the necessary documentation. All duties and taxes must be paid by the customer prior to the truck departing.
  • We do not include Goods in Transit insurance in our price. Please arrange your own insurance.
